About

Hi, I'm Rares and I'm writing "Apps That Matter". I'm a software developer for more than 10 years and I still find this craft fascinating.

Most of what I know I learned on the web thanks to the people who were kind enough to share their knowledge. (I'm especially grateful to 37 signals for their priceless "Signal vs Noise" blog and "Getting Real" book.)

"Apps That Matter" is my contribution, my way to share what I know and what I think, hoping that somebody will find it useful or learn something useful.

Have questions, suggestions or maybe a little criticism? Write me an email.

App craft

Software development is a huge topic, "Apps That Matter" will cover app design and development with an emphasis on HTML5 apps. There are virtually no native-level quality HTML5 apps but the situation is getting better every day. This blog will provide tips about making HTML5 apps, share links to related articles, analize the status quo and the latest developments in the area. Stick around to witness the gigantic strugle to make apps OS and device independent.

Fair warning

Some of the external links contained within "Apps That Matter" have my referral id, which provides a small Grolsch for each sale. Think about it as a form of tipping for the fair investment of time I put into this blog. Thank you.

Disclaimer

I’ll end with the disclaimer required by my type of job. "Apps That Matter" is my personal blog and is entirely independent from my employer. My articles and comments are my own and don't (necessarily) represent my employer positions, strategies or opinions.
